After a successful art residency titled Walk of Art, DAIRA now presents a portfolio exhibition of etchings to promote this amazing medium of limited editions prints. An etching press was installed in the gallery premises and like-minded artists got together to etch Nakash (impressions).
As an art form, printmaking takes the viewer on a journey of artistic expressions through a technical route. All this done by an exhilarating process that demands as much creativity as it needs accuracy and precision.
Like rare and ancient manuscripts, printmaking is an art dedicated to the resource-fulness of implementing ideas. The innumerable techniques are, in fact, the manife-station of artists' curiosity. Constant monitoring of one's work builds a natural in-volvement that printmakers can't do without. A good print, then, will not only dis-play technique but also the deftness with which it is done.
Nakash are impressions of a few Hyderabad-based artists who, apart from being deeply involved in the tradition of printmaking, have resolved to take this medium to greater heights. D Ananthaiah, Nandini Goud, Sajid Bin Amar, Akshay Anand Singh, Fauqia Tahseen, Gouri Vemula and Shabari Smitha Guha - executed their work with dexterity and professionalism.
Project Nakash took birth at DAIRA. From marking out an exhibition area to or-ganizing a workshop, DAIRA became a place for exchanging ideas, executing work and realizing creative aspirations.
