In plain world Lavanya Dutt’s obsession with the medium of painting manifests itself in myriad forms. But what meets the eye is an incidental image. The lusture in her colour, the freedom of her palette and the conscientious application of the pigment provide her a distinction she deserves. The nature series she rendered this time qualifies all the above mentioned facets of her painterly preoccupations. Beside these qualities she takes a step further as she includes the embossed textures in her work. The miniature nature series, as I seen, is basically a takeoff from her earlier paintings of female forms. The pattern may have altered but the grid remains the same.
